Strassen pilzleuchte

Beitrag von djl »

Hello. In Germany you had some street lamps called pilzleuchte (I think that's mushroom lamp). Like this: https://www.sternenpark-schwaebische-al ... mpe-06.jpg
I've seen these streetlamps in other countries too, like Switzerland, United Kingdom, but in East-Europe too, including my country (Romania). Here is one Romanian version: https://amfostacolo.ro/FOTO/GENUINE/d00 ... 3992_9.jpg
https://amfostacolo.ro/FOTO/GENUINE/d00 ... 992_17.jpg
https://amfostacolo.ro/FOTO/GENUINE/d00 ... 992_13.jpg
I've seen one in a image taken in West-Germany, around 1955-1956.
Where this of German origins?

"Google" Translate:
Hallo. In Deutschland gab es einige Straßenlaternen namens Pilzleuchte (ich glaube, das ist Pilzlampe). So: https://www.sternenpark-schwaebische-al ... mpe-06.jpg
https://amfostacolo.ro/FOTO/GENUINE/d00 ... 992_17.jpg
https://amfostacolo.ro/FOTO/GENUINE/d00 ... 992_13.jpg
Ich habe einen auf einem Bild gesehen, das um 1955-1956 in Westdeutschland aufgenommen wurde.
Wo diese deutschen Ursprungs?

The first link brings me to "Sonderausstellung 16 Westdeutsche Straßenlaternen der 1950er- und 1960er-Jahre auf historischen Bildern".

If you decide for "Rundgang durch die Galerie" the origin of the image will be shown when clicking on it;)
Another choice is the selection by town.

These are very common street lamps in western part of germany.

One manufacturer of this style steetlamp is Siemens, with some very similar models.
https://westdeutschestrassenleuchten.hp ... ns-ag.html
They were build in different sizes, from various manufacturers with similar design. When you go on this page to the AEG, Bega, EAB, GICS, PuS, ... section, you see also lamps this style.
Half of the manufacturer had at least one Model with this design.

Even in german wikipedia about street lamps:
https://de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Datei:S ... aterne.JPG

I found a 2018 newspress picture about a newbuilt same-design Streetlamp with LED-lamp inside from local newspaper in german town Krefeld
https://www.wz.de/nrw/krefeld/bis-ende- ... d-39724715

seems like one of the manufacturers still make these street lamps.

Most, if not all, of these german street lamps was replaced by flimsy LED lamps over the last couple of years.
Don't tell me you've discovered them all on a romanian junkyard !? ;)

Oh, a joke connected to the fact that a lot of second-hand stuff is bought in Romania from Germany. Well, if it wasn't for the 2nd hand stuff, I wouldn't have had 2 LaserDisc (one P.A.L., one N.T.S.C.) now. And some C.D.'s with Euro-Dance (I turned 18 at the end of 2000, so I got a lot of Euro-Dance).
No, L.E.D. is taking over here too. So probably no second-hand of that, unleass you are a nostalgic.
But what the early one had that cage? Vandals?

i think the cage is a nostagic style element.

like this lamp, https://file1.hpage.com/010631/89/bilde ... 1_rech.jpg
but cheaper in manufacturing, because not anymore needed metal framing around the glass sheet pieces

description to one of the pictures with the wireframe said: "Aufsatzleuchte in kegelförmigen Glas mit Ziergitter (1954-) (Hersteller: RECH)"
Ziergitter.
So its for optical design purposes.

I thought that some young rascals that seen "Blackboard Jungle" and ripped of seats after dancing on "Rock around the clock" by Bill Halley and his Comets (I know the song since I was about 13-14, I later seen the movie too) thought it was a good ideea for fun to throw rocks at them.
In Romania, because of the punks (not punkers) who "bombard" them with rocks, the glass was replaced with fiber glass. It wasn't the same look any longer. In my area and in the area where my maternal granparents live they where is way; in the are of my paternal granparents they where still glass (better neieberghood), but they where replaced with newer lamps in 1988-1990.
These pilzenleuchte (felinare tronconice) where part of many young's people childhood.
