Verdammt .. fast vergessen und verpasst :
ARISS contact planned for school in Leverkusen, Germany

Monday 29 February 2016, at approximately 12:06 UTC, an ARISS contact is planned for Gesamtschule Leverkusen Schlebusch, Leverkusen, Germany. The direct contact will be operated by DLØIL.

Signals from space will be audible over Europe on 145.800MHz narrowband FM.

School presentation:

MOTIVATED - RESPECTFUL - COMPETENT

We at Gesamtschule Leverkusen Schlebusch (GLS) promote the development of students to individuals who approach their environment in a curious and responsible way, act functional competent and behave with respect towards others.
We value individual, social and cultural multiplicity as a starting point of collective learning processes.
We help disadvantaged/social deprived children and adolescents to overcome their personal, social or cultural barriers of learning so that all can develop their skills regardless of their origin.
Our shared values, which build the foundation of the school's social life and all educational and curricular activity, are summarized in the preamble (see above).

Teaching and educational priorities

The aims of teaching and education are the willingness and ability to lifelong learning and the strengthening of confidence in the forces of a self-responsible creation of life. This does not only include the exchange of knowledge and the acquisition of skills for the target-oriented practice of learning methods, of teamwork and control of the students’ actions and their own work processes. In our school, teaching and education form an entity.

At the GLS, the lessons are given as specialized teaching and as subject connecting, or rather integral learning area lessons. Further differentiations of the lessons organisation result in educational, with regard to contents and safety aspects. All school career decisions are prepared intensively by counselling of students and parents.

For school year 2012/2013 an integrative learning group ( IGL ), beginning in the fifth year , has been introduced at GLS. In this class students with different needs of advancement are taught. In school year 2013/2014 another IGL, beginning in the fifth year, will be established. In both study groups will be two teachers, working as a team. One of them will be a special trained teacher for students that need particular advancement. Both IGL receive the, from class 5 granted, personal resources to the end of class 10.

Students will ask as many of the following questions as time allows.

1. Jasmina (13): What does ISS stands for?
2. Melina (13): How do you pee in space?
3. Sakina (17): For how long to you stay in space?
4. Ralf (14): How can you sleep without gravity?
5. Aswina (18): What is your mission?
6. Emelie (15): How big is the ISS?
7. Lorena: Is the food edible?
8. Jonas (19): What do you do to prepare yourself?
9. Hannah (14): Is being astronaut your childhood dream?
10. Veronika (19): What´s most beautiful about being in space?
11. Philipp (18): What´s the (your) first impression in ISS?
12. Christian (17): What are you thinking of, the moment you are flying into space?
13. Mark (17): What have you always been eager to do in space?
14. Nils (17): Can practicing under water be compared to being in space?
15. Patricia (17): How does fire react in weightlessness (zero gravity)?
16 Fabian (17): How do you protect from rays in space?
17. Christian (17): What kind of feeling is it to be back to earth?
18. Annika (16): What´s it like to be far away from your family for such a long time?
19 Jaqueline (18): How does it feel to work together with the same people all the time?
20. Tim (16): What´s it like for you to look down to earth?

ARISS offers an opportunity for students to experience the excitement of Amateur Radio by talking directly with crew members onboard the International Space Station. Teachers, parents and communities see, first hand, how Amateur Radio and crew members on ISS can energize youngsters' interest in science, technology and learning.

ARISS contact planned for school in Mid Wales, UK

Saturday 5 March 2016, at approximately 10:55 UTC, an ARISS contact is planned for Powys Secondary Schools, Mid Wales, United Kingdom. The direct contact will be operated by GB4PCS.

Signals from space will be audible over Europe on 145.800MHz narrowband FM.

School presentation:

Powys Combined Schools represent all secondary schools across the county of Powys in Wales. With students from over 90 primary schools and 12 secondary schools, we represent students from the age of 4 up to 18.
As Powys Combined Schools, we have a pool of some 7,700 students aged 11-18 and a similar number of 4-11 year olds in the primary schools.

Our goal is be to leverage our existing relationships with the primaries in each secondary catchment area to organise a county wide event over the months leading up to the ARISS contact. During which time workshops, projects and activities aimed around STEM subjects would be run.
Powys covers the historic counties of Montgomeryshire and Radnorshire, most of Brecknockshire (Breconshire), and a small part of Denbighshire — an area of 5,179 km² or 2,000 sq miles, making it the largest county in Wales by land area. Most of Powys is mountainous, with north-south transport being difficult.

The majority of the Powys population lives in villages and small towns. The largest towns are Newtown, Ystradgynlais, Brecon, and Welshpool. Powys has the lowest population density of all the principal areas of Wales.

Just under a third of the residents have Welsh linguistic skills: Welsh speakers are concentrated mainly in the rural areas both in and around Machynlleth, Llanfyllin and Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant (where William Morgan first translated the whole Bible into Welsh in 1588) in Montgomeryshire (Welsh: Sir Drefaldwyn), and the industrial area of Ystradgynlais in the extreme south-west of Brecknockshire (Welsh: Sir Frycheiniog).

Students will ask as many of the following questions as time allows.

1. Caitlin (aged 13): What training regime did you have to undertake in order to prepare for your mission to the space station?
2. Emily (aged 13): What is your favourite study that you carrying out to show what life is like in space?
3. Kelsey (aged 13): What objects in space can you see more clearly with your eyes in space?
4. Amelia (aged 13): Can you describe the automatic systems on board the ISS to keep you in your current orbit?
5. Callum (aged 11): What research are you currently working on?
6. Kit (aged 13): Do you ever feel sudden vertigo or claustrophobia whilst you are up in space?
7. Wyn (aged 14): Do you feel your senses are any different in space compared to being on the ground – for example is your sense of smell more acute?
8. Edward (aged 15): On the Principia website, it says you are looking into a range of research areas including 'novel materials'. Can you describe a new material you are working on?
9. Amy (aged 14): Can you describe what is meant by 'Fluid Physics' and describe any experiments you are conducting using 'Fluid Physics'?
10. Gwen (aged 18): On one of your video reports, we can see you watching the 6 Nations Rugby. How can you have a better picture in space compared to us here on earth?
11. Caitlin (aged 13): What inspires you to keep up the demanding physical exercise routines in space?
12. Emily (aged 13): How long does do you expect it to take you to acclimatise when you return to the earths surface?
13. Kelsey (aged 13): Of the objects you said that you can see with your eyes, what specific detail is better from space?
14. Amelia (aged 13): How do you assess your muscular strength in space?
15. Callum (aged 11): Can you describe how you get into and leave the ISS without losing any air?
16. Kit (aged 13): What is your favourite discovery you and the team have made during your time in space so far?
17. Wyn (aged 14): How long does it take to prepare for a spacewalk??
18. Edward (aged 15): Picking one ‘novel material’, can you describe how it would be used on earth?
19. Amy (aged 14): Of all the experiments you are carrying out on the human body, which one has given you the biggest surprise in terms of results?

ARISS contact planned for Justus-Knecht-Gymnasium, Bruchsal, Germany

An International Space Station radio contact has been planned for Jeff Williams KD5TVQ with Justus-Knecht-Gymnasium, Bruchsal, Germany. The event is scheduled Friday July 1st, 2016 at approximately 08:31 UTC. The amateur radio contact will be a direct operated by DN1JKG. The downlink signals should be audible over parts of Europe. Interested parties are invited to listen in on 145.800 MHz narrowband FM.

Presentation:

The Justus-Knecht-Gymnasium is one of the biggest schools of general education in the administrative district of Karlsruhe in Baden-Wurttemberg. More than 1,300 students are taught by over one hundred teachers. Our focus is on a scientific profile with the succession of languages being English-French or English-Latin. Furthermore, science and technology is a major subject starting in year 8. About 85% of our students opt for this profile.

For four years now the Justus-Knecht-Gymnasium has been one of 44 model schools in Baden-Wurttemberg which allow students to take their A-levels at different speeds – either after eight or nine years of secondary education.

The Justus-Knecht-Gymnasium is also participating in three different educational pilot projects. In the last two years leading up to their A-levels, students may take up Mathematics “plus” (an enhanced version of the subject Mathematics, six lessons a week) or computer science as a major subject as well as science and technology as a minor subject.
Additionally, there are optional subjects for senior students, such as for example psychology, philosophy, drama, and especially natural sciences like geology, computer algebra, computer science, and astronomy.
The Justus-Knecht-Gymnasium cooperates with partners in various fields, especially the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).

In 2015 the town of Bruchsal organized the “Heimattage Baden-Württemberg” (Homeland Days of Baden-Württemberg). The Justus Knecht-Gymnasium took part in different projects, e.g. “Heimat Erde” (Homeland Earth). Students of different years worked on the topic. Moreover there’s a study team working together with the amateur radio operators of Bruchsal. They established radio communication, built a stratosphere balloon and prepared the radio link to the ISS.

Participants will ask as many of the following questions as time allows:

1. Alexander, 17: (Welcoming speech in English and Russian) Is the space debris a threat for the ISS?

3. Lars, 18: What do you do with the time saved due to time dilatation?
4. Sebastian, 15: Do you feel the temperature differences between inside and outside during a spacewalk?
5. Lukas, 14: When will it be possible to realize a mission to Mars in your opinion?
6. Dario, 17: How do you lubricate mechanical parts against friction in space?
7. Jonas, 15: How many calories do you need per day?
8. Lennart, 13 : Do you play dart in space?
9. Tim, 15: Have you ever realized experiments with flying animals like birds on the ISS?
10. Fabian, 15: In which way does the 90 minute-day-night-change influence your life on board?
11. Nina, 17: Are you floating in your dreams, too?
12. Noel, 11: How do you recycle your water on board?
13. Janek, 15: Which buildings can you see from above?
14. Fabian, 15: Are you able to see polar lights from above?
15. Nadine, 17: Which animals are living currently on board?
16. Sandra, 16: Do you miss the weather on the ISS?
17. Tom, 17: What do you think about planet earth from high above?
18. Tom, 15: Did you wear a life vest or parachute during your flight to the ISS?
19. Max, 18: What do you do in your spare time?
20. Michel, 16: Did you get medical training during your preparation on earth?

ARISS is an international educational outreach program partnering the volunteer support and leadership from AMSAT and IARU societies around the world with the ISS space agencies partners: NASA, Russian Space Agency, ESA, CNES, JAXA, and CSA.

ARISS offers an opportunity for students to experience the excitement of Amateur Radio by talking directly with crewmembers on-board the International Space Station.

Seit langem mal wieder was interessantes :
Alexander Gerst wird QRV sein.
ARISS contact planned for two schools in Germany

An International Space Station school contact has been planned for Alexander Gerst KF5ONO with two schools in Germany:
- Werner Heisenberg Gymnasium, Leverkusen
- Schickhardt Gymnasium, Herrenberg.

The event is scheduled Wednesday 27 June 2018 at approximately 10:32 UTC.

The conversation will be conducted in German.

The contact will be a direct operated by DL0IL and DL0GH.

The downlink signals will be audible in parts of Europe.

School Information:

Werner-Heisenberg-Gymnasium

The Werner Heisenberg Gymnasium in Leverkusen was among the first schools that joined the national MINT EC network of excellence schools in science and is an IB world school offering its students the International Baccalaureate (IB).

Another focus is set on language in our French German bilingual program. Care has been taken that both degrees may be pursued simultaneously as we have found that one talent is often connected to the other.

The WHG mission is: To build and develop a social community, to strengthen personality and character, and to enjoy and succeed in learning.

In STEM classes, students focus on core subjects like mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology with additional optional courses in astronomy and computer science. In 8th and 9th grade, students take science classes covering interdisciplinary subjects with a special application focus. In small groups, students define and research their own projects, which they present to a jury from local industry during a science fair at the end of 9th grade.

In addition, there is a diverse choice of project courses (AGs): Our students may join the Jazz band or the Theater AG, which are well-known for their performances. The Astronomy AG has constructed a large, scaled version of the solar system in the schoolyard and has specialized in moon and planet photography.

In the French bilingual class, more lessons are allocated to French, and history, geography and politics are taught in French. With their high school diplomas, students in this branch are granted access to French universities.

Complementary to science and language education, WHG also focuses on social education: In 9th grade, students participate in a mandatory practical training at a social organization (kindergarten, hospital, retirement or nursing home, work with handicapped or homeless people) to help develop social responsibility.

Schickhardt Gymnasium

Our school, the Schickhardt Gymnasium, is located in Herrenberg which is a small city south of Stuttgart.
This is in the heart of a region known nationally and internationally for technology (i. e. automobiles) and
IT advancement but also for its old universities and its history.
Beyond the regular subjects like Maths, German,
English, P.E., Arts, and social sciences, this is reflected in the profiles our school offers from which the students can choose their focus. On one hand, the language profile with French, Spanish and Latin as options. On the other hand, we have the profile of natural sciences and technology, i.e. NwT (science and technology), Biology, Physics, IT and Chemistry. Both profiles are also visible in the clubs and exchanges which are offered: Aerospace Lab, Robotics, ISS, Theatre, Musical, Print and the KuCa (which organizes cultural events – among others a presentation by Professor Dr. Heinz Voggenreiter), among others. Students are also dedicated to social projects, e.g. Fairtrade, Model United Nations, schools against racism and the aid-organization Casa Alianza. Exchanges go to Sweden, France, the USA, Botswana, and Hungary.

This secondary school with about 750 students and 70 teachers is excited to be taking part in the ARISS program.
The project team consists of members of different age levels motivated by their interests in outer space, technology, space travel, journalism, and many other talents which are contributing to making this project a reality.

Participants will ask as many of the following questions as time allows:

1. Yasna (11): How does the human body change in outer space?
2. Victor (11): Does your biorhythm change in space and can you sleep well?
3. Eva (17): Is it true that people cannot belch in space?
4. Tessa (11): Which everyday commodities and habits do you miss most?
5. Max (14): Is it possible to light a candle in the space station, and if so, what does it look like?
6. Roman (16): Do you see the fireworks on New Year's Eve on the ISS?
7. Lena (16): Do you think that the idea of populating the Moon and Mars in near future is realistic?
8. Lorenz (16): Have you ever lost anything outside the ISS?
9. Max (17): What do you think about the disposal of waste, e. g. electronic scrap, in outer space?
10. Sven (17): What would you ask an astronaut if you were not an astronaut yourself?
11. Charlotte (13): How clean is the air inside the ISS? Do you need to do dusting?
12. David (13): What did your assistant CIMON surprise you the most with?
13. Linda (11): What does it feel like to go on a spacewalk?
14. Lorent (11): What was your most exceptional experience in outer space?
15. Anna (18): How difficult is it to readjust to life on earth after a long stay in space?
16. Maurice (15): Which spaceship would you take to fly to the ISS if you had the choice between the time-tested Soyuz capsule or the new Dragon V2?
17. Max (14): How fast is your internet connection on the ISS?
18. Lukas (15): What would happen in case of an acute medical emergency, e. g. appendicitis?
19. Anne (17): Is it possible to fly directly to the moon from the ISS?
20. Benjamin (9): What is your favorite food on the space station?

14. Lorent (11): Was war das Außergewoehnlichste, was sie im All erlebt haben?

About ARISS:

Amateur Radio on the International Space Station (ARISS) is a cooperative venture of international amateur radio societies and the space agencies that support the International Space Station: NASA, Russian Space Agency, ESA, JAXA, and CSA. The US Center for the Advancement of Science in Space (CASIS) and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) provide ARISS special support.

ARISS offers an opportunity for students to experience the excitement of Amateur Radio by talking directly with crewmembers on board the International Space Station. Teachers, parents and communities see, first hand, how Amateur Radio and crewmembers on ISS can energize youngsters' interest in science, technology, and learning.

The primary goal of ARISS is to promote exploration of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) topics by organizing scheduled contacts via amateur radio between crew members aboard the ISS and students in classrooms or informal education venues. With the help of experienced amateur radio volunteers, ISS crews speak directly with large audiences in a variety of public forums. Before and during these radio contacts, students, teachers, parents, and communities learn about space, space technologies, and amateur radio.
